Smart and Friendly's New Data Arsenal 142 Adds Jukebox Capabilities; Flexible CD-ROM Network Tower lets users allocate CDs based on demand

COMDEX, Las Vegas, November 13, 1995-Smart and Friendly, specialty producer of cutting-edge MPEG development tools and CD-related technology since 1982, today announced the Smart and Friendly Data Arsenal 142, a CD Network Tower with the capacity for as many as 14 6X CD-ROM drives and up to two 7-disc quad-speed jukeboxes, providing access to an additional 14 CDs. The unit connects to a PC network via SCSI 2 interface. Aimed at small-to-medium sized businesses and government agencies with the need to share CD-based data in a networked environment, the combination of CD-ROM drives and jukeboxes enables users to allocate CDs based on frequency of access. Pricing for the Data Arsenal 142 has not been set. "The Smart and Friendly Data Arsenal 142 offers a uniquely flexible approach to data sharing," said Perry Solomon, CEO of Smart and Friendly. "Users can put the CDs they need to access most often and most rapidly in the 6X CD-ROM drives, while the discs they may not use as frequently can be housed in the jukeboxes. The 7-disc quad-speed jukeboxes offer the fastest access of any jukebox on the market, so either way, users get the data they need, when they need it. This is the ideal CD-ROM network tower/jukebox for sm all-to-mid-sized network environments: it's easy to use, easy to upgrade and should be very affordably priced." The Data Arsenal 142 supports reading in CD-ROM Mode-1 and Mode-2, CD-ROM XA, CD- Audio, Audio-combined CD-ROM, CD-I, CD-I ready, CD Bridge and CD-R formats.
